Equipment and software

The weather station consists of a MyDEL Ventus WX-831, supplied by Martin Lynch. Running the administration and web maintenance software, Weather Display 10.37p, is a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 3.2GHz Pentium4, loaded with 2Gb of memory and Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Performance

I have been very impressed with the battery life of the weather station hardware. It was was installed in Autumn 2009, went right through the very cold winter we endured and was still operational in July 2010 – on the original set of batteries. This is especially impressive given that every sensor communicates with the main control unit several times a minute.
